The picturesque and relatively compact medieval city of Cahors is just 20 minutes away where you will find several large hypermarkets and everything you’d expect to find in the administrative center of the Lot Department. Every year Cahors hosts the world renowned Blues and Jazz Festival which attracts acts from all over the world. It’s famous also for the Malbec wine and Pont Valentré (built in 1308) which has been listed as a historic monument since 1998 and registered on the UNESCO World Heritage List as part of the pilgrimage road to Santiago de Compostela.
This part of France boasts one of the lowest population densities in Europe. It has no heavy industries and consequently has a very clean and unspoilt environment and virtually no light pollution which makes star-gazing even more breathtaking.
The local cuisine is also famous for duck, truffles and wild mushrooms and in spring you can easily find over 20 varieties of rare orchids and wild flower meadows are everywhere.
